Overview

A workforce scheduling platform designed for 24/7 Security Operations Center teams, with a manager dashboard, an analyst self-service view, and an engine that generates fair, compliant shift schedules automatically.

The Problem

SOC teams run around the clock across Night, Morning, Middle and Evening shifts. Building a fair schedule by hand, while respecting rest periods, staffing minimums, per-tier shift restrictions and time-off requests, is time-consuming and error-prone, and it's easy to accidentally schedule someone back-to-back across a night-to-morning switch.

The Approach

An automated scheduling engine paired with two role-based views: a manager dashboard showing staffing coverage and unfilled positions at a glance, and an analyst view showing upcoming shifts, hours worked and time-off status. Every generated schedule is checked against rest-period and eligibility rules before publishing, with specific reasons surfaced for any shift left unfilled.

Where It Stands

The platform is in active development and has not yet been deployed to a live SOC team. The scheduling engine, manager dashboard and analyst self-service view are functional in development; the next step is a pilot with a real shift roster.

Architecture

  • Configurable shift definitions (Night 23:00–07:00, Morning 07:00–15:00, Middle 09:00–19:00, Evening 15:00–23:00)
  • Scheduling engine enforcing rest periods and shift-adjacency rules, with per-shift reasons surfaced for unfilled positions
  • Tier-based eligibility rules per employee (e.g. weekend-shift restrictions)
  • Schedule versioning with a draft → published workflow and CSV export
  • Time-off request management (vacation, preferred day off) with an approval workflow
  • Owner/manager dashboard, active employees by tier, coverage %, unfilled positions, pending time-off
  • Analyst self-service view, next shift, hours this week/month, nights and weekends worked, upcoming shifts
  • SaaS-ready multi-team architecture
